Salute 2013, great show........ shame I forgot to take lots of pictures.......

So.... my plan was to do a nice "what I saw" style post all about the show..... but I got carried away shopping and chatting and forgot to take pictures..... DOH!

so instead I will just show off my modest little haul, and some pics of some of the models I have managed to put together so far....

first up... this is what I bought......

not a huge pile of goodies I know..... but I am pleased.... I have been hankering for some swash-buckling action for a while now and the Freebooters Fate models are just gorgeous.....
Vanessa promises to beef up my Vickies crew for Malifaux with some much needed defensive buffs for the victoria's..... and after the Paint the city pink charity challenge I needed to replace Silverager for my Pulp City ARC crew, and I am painting up a June for the Pulp City Forum's Mini exchange.....
As for the Salute Miniature.... I am amazed by the standard of this model, it is a beautiful little figure, with very good casting quality, a certain large company could learn from Renedra about quality control.......

now for the pics of my mini's..... The Salute mini this year, is Jason, of Jason and the Argonauts fame, and is a first as far as I know, being a plastic miniature kit that was made purely as a convention freebie, and even has a choice of left arm... either holding aloft the severed head of  a Beastie, or equipped with a shield..... I couldn't decide which I preferred.... so I magnetised it and now they are interchangable.....

I have also been busy building my first Wyrd plastic model, and again I must say I am impressed by the quality of this model, the pose is refreshingly dynamic after building a lot troops for 40k.... she also required virtually no filing, cutting, with almost no mould lines or flash to be found.....

Last up.... I simply couldn't wait to build up my Amazons starter set for Freebooters Fate...... each model comes with its own decorative base topper.... I just hope I can do them justice when it comes time to paint them up.......

Soooo thats it, what I bought and my first impressions of them.... Hope you enjoyed my latest Ramblings....

as always comments are welcome....

Just a quick update....

Nothing really Hobby related, but I had an idea (yes it hurt, yes there was a smell of overheating circuitry....)
with quite a few folk I am acquainted with online going to this years Salute show, I was trying to think of an easy way for me to meet and/or chat to them at the show.......

Soooooo..... I had this printed......
there you go.... If you spot that a rather large fella with that emblazoned across his back...... its me and I would be pleased if you wanted to come say hello....

I had it printed by the lovely chap at Custom T shirts who was very helpful and vectorized my somewhat tiny graphic and enlarged it etc etc...... I am happy to recommend him for any thing like this....

hope to see lots of folks at the show.........

I am weak willed and easily persuaded to do stuff....... Apparently.....

soooo.... having shown off pictures of my landing pads construction over my last couple of posts..... some people, who I shall not name to protect the blatantly guilty, convinced me i should make one big enough for the Blunderhawk to land on....... 2 nightshifts at work with no internet access later and I have run out of plastic....... but I did get some initial progress done...

first up.... the Blunderhawk project continues to get tinkered with... I have found a couple of Lascannon-ish guns in my bits box... and made the basic shape of the support winglets...
a little bit of work still to do on these to make the hingle looking end.. but you can see where I am going with them....

also added the tail and front winglets to the main bulk of the craft....

and then I started on the new landing pad XL... I started by drawing the basic shape I wanted onto a sheet of 3mm foamed pvc...
and then sat a blunderhawk on it to check it fits.....

and then I cut two corners off to allow for 2 roughly 150mm wide ramps and then the third corner of the triangle got removed to make room for a hexagonal support for the watch-tower/lighting-tower I plan on adding.....

so as it stands the outer wall will be 75mm high giving a 20mm high parapet on all sides, not sure how high the tower might be... but its all on hold till I get more foamed pvc....

well I hope those of you responsible are happy with what you have made me do.......
and that the rest of you enjoy reading about my latest hobby exploits.....

as always comments are most welcome...

More!!! I say MORE progress!!!!!

yep thats right only one day after my last post I find I have achieved enough that I want to post again.....

so on with show and tell, Blunderhawk.... not huge progress... but it has 2 wings now and a bit of detail added to the cockpit, frames on the windows..... which will be painted either grey or silver....

most progress was achieved on the landing pad....
it now has sloped sides, and the ramp is now clad in textured plastic checker-plate....
and then to hide all those unsightly panel gaps..... I added a bit of re-enforcing to all the corners.....

I think it tidies it up nicely..... oh by the way, that little yellow dot on the 'pad is the switch to control the LED landing lights..... you still have to reach underneath to turn on the EL wire though.... so I may keep pondering about re-locating that switch....

just for giggle I did a little bit of conversion work on a model I picked up from my FLGS  A clone wars era republic assault craft, I intend to use it as personal drop shuttle for my inquisitor in Inquisimunda....mainly cosmetic changes so far, a couple of basic weapon changes, it now mounts two fixed forward firing auto cannon for self defense in the air, and the ball turrets now each boast a heavy stubber for suppression fire during landings...
makes rather a good fit on the pad, I think......

last pic for this post... a group shot of my creativenessness this weekend....

can't help thinking I should have made the pad big enough to take the blunderhawk.....whoopsy...

hope you enjoyed, as always any comments are always welcomed......
